True Prosperity

Ps 1:3 … whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Every card Momma ever gave me and my brother and our children, she signed with Matthew 6:33 under her name.

Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

She purposed to not only raise her family on this verse but live it out daily in front of us. The principle she was trying to implement in our lives was to put God first… His will, his way, his Word, and in return, God will take care of everything else. The last phrase in Ps. 1:3 is emphasizing this same idea.

Ps. 1:3 … and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

What is biblical prosperity?

We live in a health, wealth, and prosperity kind of gospel today. Do this for God, and he will abundantly bless you with riches beyond compare or give this amount of money to the Work of the Lord, and he will bless your health or heal you of your disease. Is God capable of doing these things? Most definitely! Has he blessed us in these ways? Certainly! As God’s children, we all have experienced the countless blessings given by the Master’s hand. We ought to bow our undeserving heads and thank him for his goodness in our lives. We could never repay him for his kindness and mercy toward us, and we should desire to live each day for him simply because we love him. Although we want God’s blessings, the godly, blessed man desires a much greater and eternal reward!

Colossians 3:2

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Matthew 6:19-21

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

The righteous man is more concerned with making his life count for Christ! He wants to invest in eternity and not just reap blessings for the here and now.

James 4:14

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

I’ve always heard that hindsight is 20/20. One day we will stand before the Lord. I’m sure we will look back on our lives and wish we had done more for the cause of Christ, but may we have lived such a life that we will be able to lay crowns at Jesus’ feet! May we see souls saved from the fruit of our labor! Ultimately, May Jesus say, “well done, thou good and faithful servant!” That, my friend, is a prosperous life!

Think on These Things ~ We only have one life to live for Christ.
