Psalm 1:6a
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous:
I have thoroughly enjoyed our devotions in Psalm 1, and we are going out with a bang!
Ps 1:6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous:
What an incredible thought! Reading this passage of scripture this weekend, I found myself in awe of these nine words! What depth and truth they contain!
GOD KNOWS US
John 10:14
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
2 Timothy 2:19
The Lord knoweth them that are his.
Oh, to be known of God, to be his child!
Once we have put our faith in Jesus, he becomes our Heavenly Father. We begin a personal relationship with him, and God cares for us as his own!
Romans 8:14-16
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
In these verses, the words Abba Father are used. It is just as a child cries, “Daddy, Daddy.” It’s personal. There is a closeness, a tenderness, even a confidence from the child to his Father. What a beautiful picture! When we are saved, we are adopted into God’s family. As a little child calls on his Daddy in the time of need, this personal relationship gives us the same privilege to cry out, “Abba, Father,” I need you!
God not only knows us, but he knows the very path we take. Wherever life finds you at this very moment, whatever you’re going through, God knows.
Psalm 37:18a
18 The Lord knoweth the days of the upright:
Job 23:10
10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
We experience times when it seems we’re all alone, no one understands, and no one cares… BUT GOD! God knows, he sees, and he hears!
Isaiah 43:1-2
1 But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
This passage in the book of Isaiah is written to the children of Israel, but we can apply it to our lives as Christians. We face troublesome waters and fiery trials, but be assured, we are not alone! God is with us through it all! Satan tries to convince us that this is not so, but friend, we must look through the eyes of faith, rest on the promises found in scripture, and know that we have an Almighty God who is still on the throne! God will not forsake us, he is in control, and he knows the way that we take!!!
Why is it crucial that God knoweth our way? God alone can mend the brokenhearted, give grace and mercy in the time of need, heal the sick, comfort the lonely, strengthen the weary, give peace to the troubled, and supply whatever we need!
Philippians 4:19
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
God knoweth the way we take, and he is willing and able to help!
Because God knoweth the way we take, there are some things that we can know, some things we can be certain.
In an ever unreliable and untrustworthy society… GOD IS FAITHFUL
Lamentations 3:22-23
22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
In a day when we do not know who or what is truthful… GOD IS TRUE
Romans 3:4
…let God be true, but every man a liar;
In an ever-changing world… GOD IS CHANGELESS
Hebrews 13:8
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
In a world full of power-hungry, godless leaders … GOD IS MIGHTY
Deuteronomy 3:24
24 O Lord God, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?
The God of all creation knows where we are, what we are going through, and he promised he would be with us.
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Think on These Things ~ You are not forgotten. Almighty God knoweth the way of the righteous!
